Outlaw the Irish Language?

Does absence really make the heart grow fonder? Would prohibition of the Irish language mobilize the rebellious Celtic spirit and rekindle our passion for the native tongue? Or is it too late and have we passed the tipping point in the demise of Gaelic Irish?
Colin Carroll Daniel, the argument goes, and is accepted by all recent reviews, that Irish is almost dead. And 'tis a dead cert! To outlaw is is a polemic point.
